Larry D. O'Brien
Why Men Also Cry

Larry’s story begins in 1938 in a small cabin without running water or electricity in the Nova Scotia wilderness. Born to an irresponsible mother and an absent father, he and his sisters suffer neglect until they are eventually separated and placed in foster homes around the province.
But this twist of fate isn’t a doorway to a better situation. For the next fifteen years, Larry is subjected to physical, emotional, and sexual abuse as he is bounced from the custody of one family to the next.
It is only when Larry lands a job with the Royal Canadian Air Force at the age of eighteen that he sees a way out of his circumstances. Taking flight to the skies, however, is easier than escaping the scars his childhood left on his psyche. With an exciting new career ahead of him and the support of a wonderful woman, Larry reckons with his demons and courageously pursues a life of prosperity and happiness in this memoir about hope, survival, and the healing power of love.
